JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 02

JOINT RESOLUTION DECLARING 27 JULY 2014 AS A SPECIAL NONWORKING HOLIDAY TO COMMEMORATE THE FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY OF THE IGLESIA NI CRISTO

WHEREAS, the Iglesia ni Cristo, or INC, is considered the largest entirely indigenous Christian church in the Philippines and the largest independent Christian church in Asia;

WHEREAS, on 27 July 2014, the INC will be celebrating its historic centennial year, commemorating the date when Felix Ysagun Manalo or “Ka Felix”, the founder and first Executive Minister of the INC, first incorporated it with the Philippine Government on 27 July 1914;

WHEREAS, the massive scale of the event is indicative of its great significance to a large number of Filipinos who are members of the INC, and who will be gathering from all over the world to take part in their Church’s centennial celebration: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives and, the Senate, To declare 27 July 2014 as a special nonworking holiday to commemorate the Founding Anniversary of the Iglesia ni Cristo.
