International donor communities hail Mindanao IDP program as model for relief and rehab

MinDA: Updated Mindanao topo maps near completion

A November 13, 2012, press release from the Mindanao Development Authority: After a series of validation work that spanned two years, the updated maps of Mindanao that will replace those half a century old versions are set for roll out this year, according to the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA). In a recent meeting here of the Technical Coordinating Committee for the Mindanao Topographic Mapping Project for Peace and Development, the newly developed topographic maps of Mindanao were presented for final validation by stakeholders.

President Aquino has taken the great effort of achieving just and lasting peace in Mindanao, for the good of the entire nation. On a number of occasions, he has shown firmness in taking the moral high ground of going for all-out justice and peace in addressing armed conflicts in parts of Mindanao. We have always believed that armed conflict can end through peaceful means, and with this development, we can look forward to achieving unifying peace and inclusive progress for Mindanao, and fulfill the many promises for its people.
